I don't get to the Bronx often and would have not have thought of going there for dinner. One of my close friends chose Code Red to celebrate her birthday and this place did not disappoint. From the time we walked in until leaving, everything was amazing. The DJ was awesome. He kept playing music that took the vibe to another level. Our server was professional, personable and did not miss a beat making sure we had everything we needed. I love good customer service and our server gave great customer service. I would definitely recommend!
I went yesterday for Mother's Day! Code Red is a top Carribean restaurant in NYC. It is spacious, well - designed and the food is delicious! Nothing on the menu we tried was a miss! The DJ was on point. This business makes me proud!
I've frequented Code Red quite a few times throughout the past couple of years and I do enjoy the vegetarian menu. The last entree I had here was the ackee with veggie chunks and a side of plantain. The chunks were well seasoned and you wouldn't be able to tell the saltfish wasn't in it. The food was prepared well and tasted good. It's also a plus that they offer many choices for sides.
I've visited Code Red twice and both dining experiences were pleasant. The food, ambiance, and live DJ was a vibe on a Saturday night. I ordered their Glazed Salmon & Shrimp with Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Veggies. The veggies were a little to raw for my liking but the glazed sauce on the salmon and shrimp has great flavor and had the right amount of sweetness. The mashed potatoes are creamy/chunky and they leave bits of the potato skin on..it was a pretty large portion, imo. I also tried their Code Sample Platter: Codfish Cakes, Jerk Chicken and Shrimp, Egg Rolls, Festival and Escoveitch Fish. The cod fish cakes were a bit oily but overall the platter was good. Customer service was on point as well. My server, Nicola, was attentive and polite. She made sure my friend and I had everything we needed. I'm looking forward to trying their Oxtail Egg Rolls next time around!
